Chetan Bhagat’s One arranged murder is nothing less than a Karan Johar’s Bollywood masala. The book is full of family drama, romance, festival feel, friendship and jealousy. It is the second thriller by Chetan Bhagat (first one – the girl in room 105, you can check the review here) . In order to enjoy this book with complete understanding, I would suggest you to read Girl in room 105 before picking this one.
So , the story begins after Keshav and Saurabh have successfully solved Zara lone’s case and opened a detective agency of their own. Saurabh now has a Girlfriend from a matrimonial website and Keshav spends most of his time on meeting girls through tinder.
As Saurabh and Prerna are about to get married , Prerna keeps a fast on karwachauth for him . On phone call , she tells him that she has an exciting news that she wants to share with him in person. When Saurabh reaches Prerna’s house , he cannot find her. He thinks that she must be on the terrace looking out for the moon . He still cannot find her anywhere. But when he looks down from the roof , he finds Prerna lying down on the ground with blood all around her.
There is a speculation of this being an accident but police thinks this is a murder case . Prerna’s father wants to dismiss the case as an accident since she was dead and not coming back. He does not want his family image to be tarnished. Keshav and Saurabh are determined to solve this mystery and catch the real killer.
Having read both the mystery novels written by Chetan Bhagat , it is safe to say that his “thrillers” are better than his “romance” novels . The writing style is simple and easy to understand. The only downside i felt was body-shaming remarks throughout the book. Overall , it was a good book that will keep you entertained .
